Warrick Farm Race Course & Five Star Hotel

Fresh Landscapes, James Pfeiffer Landscapes Architects and FDC construction worked together to produce the outstanding Five-star hotel grounds, show stables and horse arenas for the William Inglis Family making this facility the world’s leading horse stables. Over 30,000m2 of landscaping was installed over stages to complete this in a 4-month program.

The planting design had a high level of detail and variety, using relationships built over years Fresh could produce the highest of quality that was demanded from the builder, client and most of all Fresh as a company. The plants ranged from sizes with large ex-ground trees being transported and advanced sized shrubs which were installed for instant street appeal.

The scope of works for this project under Fresh Landscapes banner included the following:
– Working with the builder on the relocation of 200,000 tonne of top soil that was stripped from the site. Then using this top soil for the project, using large machinery up to 20 Tonne excavators and dump trucks.
– 25,000 square meters of Sir Walter Premium Turf was supplied and installed by Fresh on this project. As the construction in the Sydney market is so strong and the supply is tight for turf. Fresh had to source the turf from Queensland and organise transportation to Sydney in refrigerated trucks. All logistics and timing were critical for this component to be able to deliver to project on time.
– The construction of a communal park and public Art area.

The Inglis family’s aim was to provide a high end and established facility on completion in time for the first horse sales, it was decided to increase all trees to ex-ground sizes. This meant Fresh had to work with their contacts in the industry to make this achievable while still using the trees set out in the original design.

Fresh designed and constructed an irrigation system which had the capability of servicing all the turf areas and the 30,00m2 of landscaping. This irrigation system was controlled from a central port and drew recycled water from tanks. The result is a fully automated system that is capable of increasing water and decreasing water as per the seasons throughout the year. Fresh Landscapes carried out a full design and construct item on the irrigation system, working with the hydraulic engineers to deliver the correct pressure and flow the system required. This system been one the industry’s largest irrigation systems.

The Maintenance crew will work around the clock to keep all the hotel gardens and stables looking the best for all hotel guests and clients and more importantly the horse sales each year.
